Apple’s new AirPort Express is quite cool indeed. On one hand, it’s a tiny 802.11g WiFi base station in the form factor of power supply. That’s cool, in itself. But then it’s also a gadget you plug into your stereo, so you can play tunes from your WiFi enabled computer (Mac OR PC) on your PC, without any connection from the computer.
Two things I’m thinking about…
1. Let’s say you live in a big apartment building, and several people have unencrypted AirPorts Express. Wouldn’t you be able to play your music on someone else’s stereo?
2. (iPod + WiFi + AirTunes) + (Airport Express + Stereo) would = The Total Shizzle.
Just think about it… If iPods had WiFi, and everyone had Airport Express, you just could bring your iPod anywhere, and have the music come out of whatever stereo is nearby, with no cable in sight. Yum.
Don’t forget Airport Express’s built in print server.
kap 6/10/04 @ 11:50 amI couldn’t find any info on it but shouldn’t you be able to play music from your wired ethernet computers as well as wireless? It would just make sense.
kap 6/10/04 @ 11:52 amDon’t think so… The AirportExpress has no LAN Ethernet port. Though if you’re using the Airport Express as a repeater, and you have something wired into an Airport Extreme Base Station, that would probably work… I think.

BTW, anyone looking for an original Apple parts 512 MB PC2700 333 MHz SODIMM? Came right out of the brand new powerbook.
kap 6/11/04 @ 11:13 pmMight I suggest eBay? I have had great success selling my random used computer bits there…
