It's a mindmapper, but free, open source, and cross platform (written in Java). It took me just a minute to learn the keyboard shortcuts for navigation and creating sibling/daughter 'thoughts' and now I find it highly intuitive to use. http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page I highly recommend FreeMind.
